We all live in somewhat different universes: somewhat different ideas, values, preoccupations etc. inhabit each of us. We all know that, that’s fine. But some of us really inhabit different universes with the values, motivations, interpretations, and the vocabularies through which they describe these are radically different. And I’m not talking here about the psychotic or schizophrenic patient. Rather of people who are don’t suffer from hallucinations or altered perception in the clinical sense of the word. The focus is rather on groups of people who construct together their unique view on the world which can be very separate from the usual ways others do it. Here I invite you to share with us if you know about such groups, if you had met such groups, or if you are, have been part of them. What was particular in the way that group saw the world? In how they relate to it? Is there any group that feels really strange for you? For those with a penchant for technical precision: etic rather than emic descriptions are encouraged to make sure the texts are accessible for the rest of us. And of course, may that be a temptation, the objective is not to make fun of any “other group” than ours. Rather to open a window or their special way of creating meaning in their universe.
